    COMMERCE, MANAGEMENT, TOURISM AND SERVICES
Marketing - Marketing Management (incl. Strategy and Customer Relations)
    Tourism - Impacts of Tourism
My research focuses on transformational tourism - the impacts of tourism on hosts and guests and the capacity of tourism to be an agent for social and economic change. I currently work with communities in Australia, Nepal and Canada to consider ways of successful, sustainable tourism development as a means of disrupting poverty.
Tourism - Tourist Behaviour and Visitor Experience
I investigate the capacity of tourism experiences to be an agent for transformation for both hosts and guests. From the guest/visitor perspective, my research has demonstrated that tourism and travel experiences can be a means of not only relaxation or re-creation for pleasure and hedonistic rewards, but also as a means of personal survival and escape from cultural repression, psychological and environmental trauma experiences. I am currently involved in a project to determine the outcomes from touristic experiences on ageing and mental well-being.
