About Me

Dr.Narayanan is a Mechanical Engineer with diverse ranges of experiences which include industrial experience as a Mechanical Engineer, innovative research experienceand several academic experiences in variety of roles over different universities and programs

He started his career as a Mechanical Engineer at a construction firm which was involved in the building of dams, bridges, railway lines, etc. He was involved in the procurement and maintenance of construction equipment like bulldozers, excavators, loaders, etc. After working for two years in this role, he moved to academic roles, he was appointed as Lecturer at TAFE College Seremban in Malaysia which runs franchise programs of Australian and UK universities. In this organization, he worked different roles such as a Lecturer, Course Leader, Coordinator, etc. During this tenure, he taught for undergraduate Mechanical Engineering programs of Northumbria University, Robert Gordon University, and Charles Darwin University and administered these programs. In 2005, he moved to Curtin University, Sarawak Campus as a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. In this role, he taught several courses and final year projects. He was involved in a few research projects which included a funded research project of Curtin Sarawak Research Fund. In this period, he completed a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching from Curtin University.

In 2008, he was offered CSIRO solar flagship scholarship to do Ph.D., and he joined UniSA in Adelaide. He completed Ph.D. Mechanical Engineering in 2012, and his thesis was on the development of solid desiccant systems for dehumidification and cooling in a solar air-conditioning system. During this period, he also worked at UniSA in several roles like Lecturer, Student Assessor, Practical Supervisor, Research Assistant and also completed Graduate Certificate in Research Commercialisation from UniSA.

In 2013, he worked with South Australian Government- DIMTRE (Department of Manufacturing, Industry, Trade, Resources and Energy) as Energy Project Officer, providing energy efficiency advice on appliances for Energy Advisory Group and related projects.

He was featured in a leading industry journal, ECOLIBRIUM, Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Airconditioning, and Heating (AIRAH); his research work has been honoured with a few research excellence awards by several bodies such as AIRAH, SA Govt, and UniSA, etc.
