Kari has comes to CQUniversity from James Cook University where she worked for 11 years in a range of senior management positions including, Director of JCU Pathway College, Director of Quality Enhancement, Acting CEO of the Singapore campus and as an Executive Officer for both the Science and Engineering Faculty and the senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
During her time in these roles she became increasingly involved in business development, developing business cases for the establishment of JCU’s Cairns Research Institute, Singapore campus and Pathway College and was involved in assessing and establishing several successful international collaborations.
Prior to hers time working within universities, Kari was the Director of Nursing at the Wesley Hospital in Townsville, and Director of Clinical Services and Chairperson at Julia Creek Hospital, in North West Queensland. Whilst in the latter position she was awarded Australia Day and Queensland Health awards for her service to the community. Kari is a proud CQUniversity alumnus having completed a Graduate Diploma of Midwifery in 1998. Kari also holds postgraduate qualifications in law, business, health management and tropical medicine, and is currently undertaking PhD studies.
Outside of her work at CQUniversity, Kari is on the Hospital Health Board of the North West, is an international reviewer for universities in the UK and Bahrain, and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
